Our personal ranking
We’ve now cruised with three different cruise lines: MSC Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and AIDA. Each cruise was an experience in its own right. Sailing with different cruise lines has taught us that it’s not just the destinations that matter, but also what the experience on board is like.
Because... what’s the service like? How good is the food? What’s the ship’s layout like? Are the restaurants busy, and can you really relax and enjoy your holiday?
Based on our own experiences, we compared the cruise lines—and one clear favourite emerged!
🥇 1. Celebrity Cruises – our favourite
Celebrity Cruises is the clear standout for us. The personal service, delicious food and relaxed atmosphere made our cruise special. The crew often seemed to know what we needed before we did, and the personal attention was fantastic. Thanks to the excellent service and lack of queues, we could truly unwind and enjoy our cruise.

🥈 2. MSC Cruises – a lovely cruise
We also had a lovely cruise with MSC Cruises. However, we found it could get quite busy at times, especially when boarding and disembarking. As a result, the experience felt a little less relaxing for us.

🥉 3. AIDA Cruises – not quite our style
AIDA ranks third in our ranking. The self-service restaurants, the crowds at the buffet and finding an available table stood out to us in particular. We also found the ship’s layout a little awkward at times.
Of course, that doesn’t mean AIDA is less suited to everyone, but another cruise line is a better fit for the way we like to cruise.
